History

Saint Paul's Episcopal Church at Federal Point is a historic carpenter Gothic church established in 1880.

  • 1880 Captain Smith requested mission

  • 1880 On June 2, St. Paul's mission organized and met in Captain Smith's barn and hall over store

  • 1882 Contracted to build the basic church for $1,000

  • 1882 On July 30, the church structure was dedicated

  • 1883 On April 30, the bell was purchased for $32 and installed

  • 1885 On June 10, the stained glass windows were installed

  • 1885 During the summer of 1885, the church was plastered and the chimney was built

  • 1894 Construction of the original rectory began

  • 1926 Construction of the Atkinson House began

  • 1951 Construction of the adjoining parish house began

  • 1974 The Atkinson House was donated to the Florida Diocese

  • 1988 The addition to the present church was built

  • 2008 Dedication of the dock
